I really love how bossy Ben is! He just will not take no for an answer from Emma when it comes to dating him, and then marring him. Ben, who is from New York, gets a letter postmarked from Emma's address sayign he has a 15 year old son. Ben desides to investigate this and finds a picture of his son, Michael, who is a spitting image of Ben 20 years ago. Originally from New York, Ben had traveled to Maine approx. 16 years ago to protest a dam being built. He fell for Emma's older sister, Kelly, while he was there. Before he left for home, he asked Kelly to come back to New York with him. She laughed and told him to get lost. Now, when Ben comes back to Maine, only Emma and his son are there. (It seems Kelly up and dissapeared 10 years ago.) Finally, the truth comes out that, even though Ben was with Kelly at the time, Emma always fancied herself in love with the big guy. And, now that he's back, the feelings might just come back as well. Very cute story. I have enjoyed every Janet Chapman book I have ever read, and this one is no expectption.
